We were very fortunate, just before May half term, to have a small team of volunteers from RR Donnelley in Lancing come in to refurbish part of our Reception garden. RRD are a global business helping some of the UK's biggest brands communicate with their customers, both digitally and by post. You can see from the photos below how hard they worked to clear the area which had become very overgrown. We are very grateful to them; the children love their new garden area and will be able to gain maximum benefit from it now it has been cleared. Our grateful thanks also to Any Garden Ltd for donating compost and bark chippings to enable the area to be completely finished for the children.
At the beginning of June a team from Marks & Spencer Shoreham and Worthing stores came to the school as part of their M & S Volunteer Week. A team of about 20 M & S staff worked extremely hard in somewhat adverse weather conditions to refurbish the tree area so that the children can now play safely there; replanted and painted the planters outside the Year 2 classroom and sanded down and painted some of the benches. We were also very fortunate to receive a donation of £500 from Marks & Spencer towards the cost of materials, plants, paint etc. As well as St Peter's, Marks & Spencer is working with 400 organisations including schools, food banks, youth clubs and education charities to creative positive outcomes for thousands of young people across the UK. We are very grateful to them for choosing St Peter's as their volunteering project this year and hope they may return in the future!
