Tuesday 9th June 2020

Welcome to your home learning for Tuesday 9th June 2020!

Here you will find your tasks for the day. If you have any worries or concerns, you know where to find me.

Joke of the day:

Why do bicycles fall over?

Because they’re two-tired!

Fact of the day:

About 70% of an adult’s body is water!

PE:

Please follow one of the links on the Year 4 home page to either Cosmic Kids, GoNoodle, PE with Joe Wickes or Smiling Minds. The choice is up to you this week! Make sure you stay fit and healthy.

Reading:

Please make sure you are dedicating about 25 minutes per day to reading. Remember you can quiz at home too!

Spellings:

Today we are finding out about the spelling pattern of ‘ion.

If the word ends in 'SS' you just need to add 'ion'

If the word ends in 'T' you need to change it to an 'SS' before adding 'ion.'

Ignore that this says Y5/6 - it is a handy guide!

Guided reading:

Read Chapter 7 and THINK about the following questions:

  • How do you think the lighthouse crew felt when they saw Finn swim?
  • How do you think the dolphins felt when they saw the children?
  • Why did the children want to help the dolphin?

English

You probably don’t need to download the booklet again, but today you are starting your persuasive letter to Dougie’s mum from Song of the Dolphin Boy about why she should reconsider releasing balloons into the air, in the future.

Maths

Today we are drawing co-ordinates onto a grid. To do this, you must go along the corridor and then up the stairs. For this activity, you must draw a small cross where the two values cross.

Clue: vertice/vertex means corner

PSCHE

Today we are thinking about how belonging to different groups makes us feel. We often feel various emotions when we spend time with different people. Some groups make us feel really welcome and happy, wheras other groups might challenge us.
