PE

Today in class we will be starting our day with this penguin themed yoga session:

 

Writing

Today, you are going to find out a bit more about Samuel Pepys.

Below, there is a powerpoint presentation to look at. Try to listen out for information you find interesting.

As you read/listen to the information being read to you– make some notes on the things you find interesting.

Tomorrow you will be writing a small booklet about Samuel Pepys.

You could also watch the ’Magic Grandad’ video again and make notes on what you find out about Mr Pepys from the video.

 

Challenge: Think of a question you would ask Samuel Pepys if you met him.

Spellings

Continue to work on learning your spellings today.

Your spellings this week focus on adding the suffix -y

spot - spotty

fun - funny

run - runny        

mud - muddy

sun - sunny

dad - daddy

We can add a -y to many root words.

For some words we double the final consonant before adding -y.

This is when there is a short vowel and a single consonant at the end of a word

Phonics

 

 

Today we are going to focus on ee’.

Focus on the ee sound.

 

Below there are also a selection of sheets that focus on the reading or writing of the focus sound. Select one that you feel is appropriate for your child.

The challenge sheet is the one that involves different ways to represent the ee sound.

Handwriting

Today we are continuing to revise the letter formation of the ‘zig zag’ letters: v w x z

If your child is starting these letters in the correct position (the top of the letter) then they can begin to start working on the pre-cursive letter formation and start their letters on the line.

In this power point you can select the letter you would like to learn, watch how to form it and then have a go in your handwriting books.

Maths

In maths today we will be continuing to work on recognising and naming shapes.

Your child could copy the questions into their home learning book if you prefer not to print.

Afternoon session- Art: Kings and Queens from the past

 

This afternoon you are going to look at some pictures of kings and queens from the past.

Select your favourite to draw a careful line drawing of them.

Look closely at the lines, shapes and any patterns you can see.

 

If you have paint at home you could also have a go at painting your chosen monarch. Or, if you prefer use colouring pencils, pastels or collage– whatever you have at home.
