Hello Year 5!
I hope you are ready for our learning today.
It is the Queen's birthday today, she is 94 years old. Did you know that the Queen has two birthdays. One on her actual birthday (21st April) and one that is her official birthday in the Summer, usually the second Saturday in June!.
Follow the link below to find out more about the Queen and her birthdays!
Today I thought we would try out some of my favourite activites: Go Noodle.
There are three videos to watch it would be brilliant if you could try all of them out, but if you only manage one that would be great. Get everyone at home involved too!
Today I would like you to think about the books you have read since we began Home Learning last month, I would like you to write a review of one of the books you have read.
Below is a book review template that you could use, but don't have to if you'd rather write one out in your book.
Remember to include things you like about the book, a brief outline of the story, a favourite moment, a rating and who you would recommend it to.
This week and next we are going to be writing our own version of a Greek myth, it tells the story of a man called Daedalus and his son Icarus. They were imprisoned on the isle of Crete by King Minos. This is the story about how they plotted and planned their escape.
Have a watch of the story here:
Today I would like you to use the story planner below, to plan out your own version of the Daedalus and Icarus story!
Include key events and language that you think are important to retell the story accurately.
Your aim is to make a much more interesting version of the story than the one in the video (which I think is a bit boring- it is far more dramatic than that!)
Have a go at these questions:
1) 345 x 12
2) Find all the common factors of 20 and 36
3) 575 ÷ 5
The answers are below:
Today we are continuing with the work from yesterday, this time we will be focusing on converting any number into a percentage.
Have a read of the instructions for the learning here, read through carefully:
Now that you have looked through the learning for today, see if you can have a go at converting the squares to percentages too.
Start from the beginning and make your way through them.
In our art lesson today, we are going to be thinking about doing an observational drawing. I would like you to pick a window in your home, to sit at and draw the view from it.
Remember to only draw what you can actually see!
You could use just pencil for a sketch, or make it more detailed with colouring pencils or pens, or even fine liners if you have them.
I look forward to seeing what you create...
Here is my version:
