Thursday 2nd April 2020

Hello Year One,

I hope the home learning is going well. Here are the activities for today.

Thursday 2nd April

Physical Education

Remember to try and start your day with an exercise activity. Choose from a website below or create your own exercise routine to try. It’s always a good idea to break up learning with some physical activities throughout the day too.

Literacy

Today’s literacy task is linked to RE. Your task is to re-tell the Easter story. You can choose to watch a video of the Easter story, look at a PowerPoint or use the story cards. There are two versions of the story cards included- a regular version or a shortened version.  There is nothing to record for this task and you can find all the resources for this task below.

Mathematics

Today’s maths activity is comparing capacity.

Spellings

Continue to work on recalling your spellings: brown, down, clown, train, wait, snail, come, some ready for a quiz tomorrow.

Phonics

Please work on the ‘oa’ sound (goat in a boat) and refer to the phonic sheet sent out this week.

Here are a couple of short videos to watch about the ‘oa’  sound.

This week we have looked at the 'ladder letters' - l, i, t, u, j, y.

Continue to practise any letter(s) your child has found difficult. Make up words using these letters and do patterns; illillill or jujuju.

Refer to your letter formation sheet for further guidance.

Reading

Continue to spend some time sharing a book. Don’t forget to record comments in your reading journal.

Optional reading activities.

  • Pick 3 words from your book and explain what they mean.
  • Describe a character from your book.
  • Design a new front cover for your book.

Other Curriculum Areas

Please continue to select an activity from the Year 1 Foundation Subject Grid.

Thank you for your continued support. We hope you enjoy the activities set for today.
