Online Safety

We offer supervised access to the Internet to enable pupils to research information from museums, libraries, news providers and other sources as part of their programme of learning. We also use platforms such as Google Classroom to share and create work.

We believe that there are considerable educational benefits to be gained from the directed use of the Internet within the curriculum, although there are understandable concerns about undesirable materials.  We will take reasonable precaution to protect your child, including supervising their Internet use.  We have purchased broadband from an educational supplier that operates the Smoothwall filtering system to restrict access to inappropriate materials.

If you do not have access to the Internet at home or work, we may be able to arrange for you to use a computer at school – please ask.

Responsible Use of the Internet

We ask our pupils to think about using the internet responsibly and respectfully. There are a lot of aspects to think about in doing this and to make these easy to remember, we have broken these down into three things:

Be kind

Treat others online with kindness
Do not share information about others
Do not post pictures of others without permission

Be safe

Do not share any personal information
Do not share passwords
Tell a trusted adult about any online friends

Be questioning

Think - can you trust an onine person or website?
Be careful of opening emails and websites you are not sure about - check!

Tell a trusted adult about anything that you are unsure of.
