4th March - Thursday - World Book Day

Good morning Reception. Welcome to Thursday

Today is World Book Day - Obviously a slightly different day from what we would like to do today. If you would like to dress up at home I would love to see your outfits.  Do you have a favourite book character? Maybe an animal from Rumble in the Jungle?

You could make a mask or headdress!

Or you could carry out Mr English's challenge to make a potato as a book character.  I have added some resources for making Supertato below.  I have also added some PDF's for you below -  to make bookmarks, a book scavenger hunt and an activity book for you to fill in - Maybe a keepsake for your 'Lock-down World Book Day'. There are some lovely resources on the World Book Day webpage, if you would like to check them out later.

Session 2  - Zoom Session

Communication Language and Literacy

We are going to have another look at Rumble in the Jungle today - yesterday you listened to the descriptions and then created an animal and did a little bit of writing.  I would like you to choose a second animal today but to start with the writing.

Your task today: can you choose an animal, think of a sentence that you want to say about the animal.  Then I would like you to make your animal.  You could create your animal from some of your toys, Lego, building blocks, beads etc. could you send me a picture of what you have created.

Breaktime

Session 3 - Zoom session

Maths

Today’s focus is Making 10.

We are continuing our work in the phase of making 9 and 10.

Here is the White Rose page - Just in case

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/building-9-10-week-2/

We are going to have a look at some number line problems to start us off.

Today we are going to play a game about making 10.  In the session we are going to look at 2 numbers that make 10. Using a 10 frame, number cards and dice.

Your task today – place numeral cards 1-10 on the floor or around the room.  You need to turn one over at a time.  How many counters would you need to fill the 10 frame. If I had this 10 frame it shows 3 counters on the 10 frame – which number do I need to go and find to fill the 10 frame?

Have fun!
