Breaktime

Session 3 - Zoom session 2

Maths

Today’s focus is comparing numbers within 10.

We are continuing with Building 9 and 10.

Here is the White Rose link  - just in case!

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/building-9-10-week-2/

Let’s start with our number line – spot the mistake.  What do you notice?

We will work through some of the problems with the number line.

Today we are going to look at sorting numbers into groups.  There is so many words involved in maths – in todays session we are looking at more and fewer.

More – greater and bigger

Smaller – less and fewer.

Altogether is also used as a total number or equals.

Number and numeral are also used.

We are going to sort dominoes into groups of those that equal the same as 6 , then more than 6 and less then 6.

Your task today after the session – use a dice and some dominoes to sort your dominoes into groups.  The dice is for you to establish the central number.

So, for example: if you roll a 4 this is your central number. Then you will be able to sort your dominoes into those that are more then 4, less than 4 and the same as 4.

Have fun!
