2nd February 2021 Tuesday

English: Writing - Zoom Input at 9:30am

It is time to read more of our class reader ‘Holes’ - what will happen next?

Today we will be continuing to write our non-chronological reports about Yellow Spotted Lizards. We will be writing the habitat section.

Can you think of a more interesting subheading than just 'habitat?'

This is the section of your fact sheet will be really helpful today.

Task: Write the habitat section of your report on Google Classroom. Remember to make it interesting for the reader. What varied punctuation can you use?

In class, we created a list of synonyms to use in our writing to avoid overusing 'Yellow Spotted Lizards' within our writing. Here are our ideas - please use them:

  • creatures
  • critters
  • beasts
  • reptiles
  • pests
  • killers
  • desert dwellers
  • denizens of the desert

Maths: Zoom input at 11:00am

Today we will be looking at Equivalent FDP (fractions, decimals and percentages).

Decimals, Fractions and Percentages are just different ways of showing the same value.

0.5 is the same as 1/2 which is also equivalent to 50%

0.25 is a decimal but this is 1/4 when written as a fraction. We can also write this as 25%

0.75 = 3/4 = 75%

A few for you to try:

  1. Can you think of the equivalent decimal for 9/10?
  2. Can you think of the equivalent percentage for 0.35?
  3. What is the equivalent fraction for 60%?
