Good morning Reception

Welcome to Tuesday- I hope you have a good day and I look forward to seeing you on Zoom later.

Lets start the day by getting active!

There is a new challenge from Shoreham Academy this week. Check it out!

They have now designed some ‘home virtual games’ for you to try if you wish – follow the link below.

Daily activity – make sure you are active every day.

CBeebies also offer daily sessions Cosmic Kids  / Joe wicks – or you may have a family favourite.

Session 1 - Handwriting

Daily handwriting –

This is a web address to a link that we use in school.  The children are all at very different stages in their handwriting, letter formation and pencil grip.  This site takes you through the stages. Last term we looked at the straight lines. We are now on curves. It shows you a little clip first and then you get a chance to have a go.  If you could start each day with a little bit of handwriting – it will help with letter formation.

We are also going to work through a letter a day. Use your white board.

We are also going to go through the alphabet – to master a letter a day. Today’s letter is….

Zoom session - Session 2  Phonics

Today in Phonics we look at our next sound from set 2.

ir – whirl and twirl

This is today’s sound have a go at the resource sheet from Read Write Inc.

Can you say the sound?

Can you practise writing the letters?

Can you read the sound when it is in other words?

Can you make some flash cards from the words on the sheet – play a game with them – turn them over / read them / if you get them right you get to keep them – if you don’t they go to your opponent.

Can you write all of the whirl and twirl words on a spiral?

Create a spiral – or use the PDF below.  (You could also draw a spiral on a paper plate. ) write your words along the spiral – (before you cut it out may be easier) then cut it out and then you have all of your ‘ir’ words on a spiral! Phonics decorations – It is the next big thing!

Break Time

Share a story / listen to a story

Have another listen to the story Zog

Zoom session- Session 3 - Maths

Today we are going to move onto number 7.  There is something that has been referred to a lot in the last year that has the number 7 – that us a rainbow.  If you would like to continue with the theme of ‘arty maths – you could create a rainbow today.  Think about the order of the colours – I have attached some PDF’s below to help you out if you need some.

On White Rose maths there is a sorting task – it is based around dominoes.  I have attached some PDF’s of different types of domino’s -if you have a set at home  - use them!

Have a look at the activity – can you find different ways to make 7 – you could use the blank dominoes. Or put objects onto two different plates.

Session 4

Communication Language and literacy and Expressive Art and Design

From the story Zog – Zog struggled to get things right – he found lots of the tasks a real challenge.  Today I would like you to create a reward chart – on that Zog could earn points on for effort. Trying his best, always carrying on. Could you think about how you could maybe be a feature on the reward chart – you could be like Zog.  Always willing to have a go, always wanting to try your best and never giving up!

I have attached some reward chart designs below – they may be of some use to you.

I hope you are creative with your ideas. Have fun!

Things to think about.

Is there a theme?

How do you collect rewards?

How many rewards do you need to collect in one day?

Is there an award at the end?

Zog got a rosette – you could make star badges.
