Good Morning Reception

I hope you are well?  Welcome to Monday.

Before school - Physical development

Daily activity – make sure you are active every day.

CBeebies also offer daily sessions Cosmic Kids  / Joe wicks – or you may have a family favourite.

Session 1: Handwriting

This is a web address to a link that we use in school.  The children are all at very different stages in their handwriting, letter formation and pencil grip.  This site takes you through the stages. Last term we looked at the straight lines. We are now on curves. It shows you a little clip first and then you get a chance to have a go.  If you could start each day with a little bit of handwriting – it will help with letter formation.

We are also going to work through a letter a day. Use your white board.

We are also going to go through the alphabet – to master a letter a day. Today’s letter is…

Session 2 : Zoom Session

Communication Language and Literacy

Focus - Listening and Attention

Today we are going to start our week with our story of the week – Zog and the flying doctors

– I will read it with the children in our session and  here is a youtube link to listen to the story at home – I will read the story to the children in session 1 today  - to start off our week.

Can you retell an event from the story – Recording task – to draw and picture  and write a sentence about something you can remember from the story.

Zoom Session  - Session 3  - Maths

This is week 2 of our topic – Growing 6,7,8

Today is the start of looking at combing  2 groups together:

Here is a story you may enjoy today  - Quack and Count by Keith Baker The ducklings are added together to make 7 each time.  You could have a go at making your own book where the animals are added together – maybe your favourite animal? A dinosaur book or a picture showing 2 groups to make 7. Here is the link below for the story - it is a lovely one for adding to 7.

Can you say the numbers that are showing on the screen on the ten frame?

I have added a PDF ten frame below - they are easy enough to draw out  - (a 5 x 2 grid - to save on your printer ink.)

Today we are going to play a memory game.  All the cards have ladybirds on them – you need to look at how many spots are on the ladybirds – if the number of spots match then they are a pair. The formation of spots may be different, but the number will be the same. For your turn today can you have a go at playing the memory game with someone in your family – you could make your own memory cards.

I have also added a 'Combining 2 groups together activity for you- if you wanted to do some more maths!

Session 4 - Phonics

Have a play on the buried treasure game today.

This is the link for a phonics play game – give it a go. You can go up the levels if you are managing OK on stage 2 words.

Session 5  - PSED: Personal Social and Emotional development

Continuing on with our work from the emotions bears from last week – I have added some resources below to help you with todays task.

The picture is of all of the Emotions Bears’ - the full set. As you can see there are different colours for different emotions.

Today I would like you to think about your feelings in different situations – Choose a felling that you have experienced.

  1. Choose a bear (from the screen) that reflects a feeling you remember clearly from the day before.
  2. Name the feeling.
  3. What did you do when you felt that way?
  4. How long did the feeling last?
  5. Is the feeling different from today?
  6. If so, what has changed?

I have also added a PDF for 6 of the strongest emotions as bear masks.  (You could draw your own or print them out.) you could create some bear masks to go with different feelings or just choose 1 to show an emotion you may be feeling. Think about the colours linked to the feeling.

Well done for your great learning today  - See you all tomorrow.
