12th January - Tuesday

Hello welcome to today's learning.

Session 1

Daily handwriting –

Each day I would like you to try a handwriting pattern and a letter a day

This is a web address to a link that we use in school.  The children are all at very different stages in their handwriting, letter formation and pencil grip.  This site takes you through the stages. Last term we looked at the straight lines. We are now on curves. It shows you a little clip first and then you get a chance to have a go.  If you could start each day with a little bit of handwriting – it will help with letter formation.

We are also going to work through a letter a day. Use your white board.

Tuesday  - bbbbbbb – down the boot to the heel and around the toe.

Session 2

Online 9.40 link    Phonics:

ee – what can you see

This is today’s sound have a go at the resource sheet from Read Write Inc.

Can you say the sound?

Can you practise writing the letters?

Can you read the sound when it is in other words?

Can you make some flash cards from the words on the sheet – play a game with them – turn them over / read them / if you get them right you get to keep them – if you don’t they go to your opponent.

Can you add the ‘ee’ words to the ‘ay’ words from yesterday to make the game more of a challenge?

Can you make some binoculars to go looking for things around the house?

Session 3: Communication Language and Literacy - Writing / Mark making

I can use my mark making skills to create a map – I can recall the places form the story I have heard.

Can you draw a map of the route that the Giant goes on?  Can you draw his street where his clothes shop was? He then walks down to the river, along the path, past the mouse house, past the campsite, to the bog, through the field and back to town.

Remind yourselves of the story from the Youtube link below.

Session 4 On line 11.10am - Maths

Today’s maths is about adding 2 groups together. I am going to go through today’s focus with the children if you can’t make the session have a look at the link below. Once you have worked through the film clip from White Rose there is a task for you to do.

Can you gather together 2 plates and some counters – (buttons /bricks / beads) – count them all to see how many there are - start with 5.  Put the counters onto the 2 plates – split them.  Can you work out how many are in each group by counting them? If you count set 1 can you work out how many are in set 2 without counting them? Once you are confident to 5 you could add more. Are you able to say the numbers without counting them? Develop confidence to 5 and then move up gradually to 10. Have a look at patterns – as one plate gets less the other plate gets more.

Session 5 - Speaking and Listening

To show and tell something you have done – share your weekend news.

I would like you to tell someone some news – can you think about your sentences before you say it.  Think about who, what, when, where and why!

On Saturday I went for a walk to the beach with my son. It was a lovely sunny afternoon and we wanted to go and get some fresh air.

      (when)      (who)        (what)        (where)                  (why)

We are developing our communication skills to extend our sentences and our vocabulary – have a go throughout the week with developing these skills.
