Welcome to Monday's home learning page. I hope you have enjoyed a restful half term and are now refreshed and ready for another week of learning.
Please remember that Miss Cappella and Mr English are here to support your learning and are contactable via email - they are happy to help!
We begin the week with our Reading Comprehension task. This is the second week on POETRY. Today we are focusing on the key reading skills of WORD MEANING, SUMMARY and STRUCTURE.
Please read the whole text carefully – including any definitions. Then answer the following questions related to that text.
If you normally stay in the classroom with Miss C for reading, please work on the text and related questions about Out in the Snow.
If you normally go to the library with Mr English for reading, please work on the text and related questions about In the Rush-hour Traffic Jam.
Once you have answered all of the questions, check and your answers carefully using the answers sheets below.
Great at Grammar challenge
Below is the weekly grammar challenge - where will you be in the final rankings? Give it a go as many times as you wish!
Today we will be recapping Multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000. Watch the video below carefully as this will help you with your work by working through some examples to get you started.
Please complete the activity below. Have a go at as many questions as you can. It is okay to leave a question if you are struggling. Remember you can print out the sheets, or just workout the answers in your workbook.
A document containing the answers can also be found below so you can mark your own work once you’re finished. You can also use the answer sheet to work through any questions you struggled to answer.
Topic – Foul Facts
The human body is incredible. Did you know that the human heart creates enough pressure to squirt blood 30 feet in the air? I bet you didn’t know that during your lifetime you will produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools?
Have a read below of some interesting, yet foul, facts about the human body.
Your activity today is to produce a poster of 8-10 foul body facts. You can use some of the facts above but you can also challenge yourself and research some of your own.
Remember to present each fact clearly and in your own words. It would be great if you used bold, vibrant colours and added pictures to make your poster eye-catching.
This day in history: 1973
Paul McCartney and Wings release the song 'Live and Let Die' to go with the James Bond film of the same name. Some years later, in 1991, the rock band Guns and Roses covered it.
