Home learning for 5th June 2020

 

Hello Year 4. Thank you for working so hard this week, only one day until the weekend! Please don't forget to test yourself on your spellings! I have outlined your tasks for today. Let me know if you have any worries or concerns.

 

PE

Let’s start off the day with a little bit of activity! Decide if you would like to join in with Joe Wickes, practise some dances on GoNoddle, do a little bit of yoga on Cosmic Kids or practise your times tables simultaneously with Super Movers! You can access the links on the Year 4 home page.

 

Chapter of the day:

We are reading Chapter 5 today. I don’t know about you, but I think it would be really cool to have a secret hide out in a lighthouse! If you are not sure what a lighthouse is, google it, so you can see what an impressive design they normally are.

THINK about the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of the lighthouse?
  • What do the different members of the Lighthouse Crew think about Finn?
  • Who seems the fairest and most supportive? Why?
  • How do you think they felt before and on seeing Finn?

English

Today your task is simple! You need to create your own short story about this dragon. However, you must ensure you demonstrate all of your learning from the week. Therefore, you should include compound and complex sentences. It would be great if you could throw in some short and punchy sentences too. There should be expanded noun phrases to add extra detail (with imaginative word choices).

 

If you are stuck for ideas, think about:

  • Where is it from?
  • Why is it so small?
  • Are there more like him?
  • Where does he live?
  • How do you look after it?
  • Is he a secret?
  • What is it called?
  • Is it magic?  What magic can it do?
  • I like to imagine that it is a really small dragon which you can keep in your pocket but when you need to it can grow huge so that you can ride it.

Maths

Today we are going to see what you remember from the week. If you get stuck, look back on our learning from previous days. One question asks you to complete a carroll diagram. We have done these in science. You must write the shape in the box which describes it best.

DT

Today  we are learning about seasonal food, especially flour. Unfortunately, at the bottom of the slide, it says we will be making something. Obviously, this is impossible at the moment, but you might like to help a member of your family cook at some point instead! Today, we are completing some questions about the information we have learnt.
