Friday 3rd July 2020

Welcome to your home learning for Friday 3rd July 2020!

Here you will find your tasks for the day. If you have any worries or concerns, you know where to find me.

Joke of the day:
Q: How do football players stay cool during the game?
A: They stand close to the fans?

Fact of the day:

Squirrels lose more than half of the nuts they hide.

Please follow one of the links on the Year 4 home page to either Cosmic Kids, GoNoodle, PE with Joe Wickes or Smiling Minds. The choice is up to you this week! Make sure you stay fit and healthy.

Guided reading

Today we will continue with The Wonder Garden and find out about the Himalayas. There is not yet a quiz on this lovely book, but perhaps one of you could make one?

Have a THINK about the following questions:

  • Compare the Bengal tiger and red panda. How are they similar/different?
  • Why do you think the author is keen to introduce endangered animals throughout the book?
  • In what ways is the book more like a fiction book than a non-fiction?

English

We have now finished The Wonder Garden. See if you can match the description to the habitat in the activity below and then try to be like Kristjana Williams and paint magnificent pictures through your use of vocabulary. Click on the document below to find out more!

Maths

We are dividing 3 digits by 1 digit. I know that some of you know how to use the bus stop method, however in Year 4, it is not expected that you know this yet! So you can use partitioning and a part whole model to help you. If you do know how to use the bus stop method, feel free to use it.

DT

We are moving onto looking at the fish in our diet today. Find out about how fish are caught, reared and processed. (There is a recipe included - you do not have to do this!)

Birdseye are a popular company who make products with fish. Luckily they source fish and seafood responsibly.

Your task today is to make an advert, explaining why a customer should pick your product (Birdseye) rather than a cheaper option. You need to explain that you believe in sustainability. See if you can create a jingle or slogan.

I have attached their website to help you.
