Friday 1st May 2020

Welcome to your home learning for Friday 1st May 2020!

Here you will find your tasks for the day. If you have any worries or concerns, you know where to find me.

Fact of the day:

Snails take the longest naps, some taking as long as 3 years!

Joke of the day:

What did the boy throw his clock out the window?

He wanted to see time fly!

PE:

Please follow one of the links on the Year 4 home page to either Cosmic Kids, GoNoodle, PE with Joe Wickes or Smiling Minds. The choice is up to you this week! Make sure you stay fit and healthy.

Reading:

Please make sure you are dedicating about 25 minutes per day to reading. Remember you can quiz at home too!

Spellings:

Here are your spellings to recap today:

  • Pressure
  • Probably
  • Promise
  • Question
  • Recent
  • Regular

Practise these spellings by playing hangman with someone in your house. Don’t let them know what the words are!

English

Today, I would like you to really focus on editIng. Take some time to finish your article if you need it. Then read your work aloud to see how it sounds. Maybe even read it through backwards to check spellings. Once you have finished, read through my checklist, to see what you have got and what you can improve. Remember, we know your work is good already, but we are just making it AMAZING! I can't wait to read your edited articles. Please send them over to me once you have finished.

Maths

Today, we are putting our practise yesterday to good use. We are going to be solving two-step problems. This means that you have to solve one thing and then use your answer in a second part of the question. They can look and seem complicated, but if you underline the key words, read the question a few times and stay calm, you will be fine! I also find it really helpful to draw pictures to help. Choose the activity that you think is best suited to you. Activity 1 is the easiest and activity 3 is the hardest, there is quite a difference today in the difficulty level as I know that word problems can be tricky. Don't forget RUCSAC!
