Friday 28th January

Good morning and welcome to today's learning.

Physical development - fine motor control skills

This is a web address to a link that we use in school.  The children are all at very different stages in their handwriting, letter formation and pencil grip.  This site takes you through the stages. Last term we looked at the straight lines. We are now on curves. It shows you a little clip first and then you get a chance to have a go.  If you could start each day with a little bit of handwriting – it will help with letter formation.

Have a go at reviewing all of the sounds we have looked at today.

Talk about the pictures – talk around the pictures. What can they decode from the story from the pictures?

Front cover – what is the boys name? Kipper

Why may he have spots?

Which room in the house is he in?

Words we are going to meet in this story: had, in, bed, Mum, dad, shopping, job, got.

Looking at the word ‘shopping’ can we decode ‘shop’ so what has happened at the end? How does the word change?

Other words in the story: she, he, spots, too, doctor, come, stay, looked, after, everyone, washing, out, what, better.

P1: who has been so poorly they have had to be in bed before?

P2&3: what is dad doing? What is happening? Why does dad react the way he does?

P4&5: what is the doctor doing? What else can you see in the picture?

P6&7: what has happened to MUM can we sound out who?  What is the doctor doing?

P8&9: what can we see on dad’s tray?  - Tray – what sound does it have?

P10-11: what is dad doing? What is behind the fence? What can you see on the line?

P11-12: where did dad go? What can you see in the picture?

P13 - 14: what do you think mum looks shocked?

P15: what do the family have to do now?

Here is the link for Kippers Toybox – a good story for today’s task.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBUW9hHpfuc&t=74s

Miss Cooper mentions Kipper’s Toybox in her clip today – the mice are hiding toys in the story! So your job today is to identify the missing toys – you can do this with counting and using your memory to identify the missing toy.

You can play this game at home with someone in your family.

Here is the session from Miss Copper today

Day 3 of the Animal Hospital –

Today is opening day – the animals have started to arrive.  It us a busy day for the patients.

You need to check your patients in - can you take their name and their details – what type of animal are they?

What is their reason for coming?

Do they need to stay the night?

Have you done everything to make sure they are OK?

Are they staying for dinner? Do they need to look at the dinner menu to make a selection for their evening meal?

Make sure you have:

Set up a Pet hospital with your toys – who is getting booked in each day?

Who is injured?

Create pet injury booking forms.

Have fun in the animal Hospital – I hope it is not too much of a busy day and that you are able to help all of your patients?

I have added a few more resources below that may inspire your surgery!

You have done really well this week.

Well done
