Food and Drink in School

Sunrise Breakfast Club and Best of Buddies After School Club - We run a breakfast and after school club for children at the school.  Please see "Wraparound Care" section for further information.

Fruit and Vegetable Scheme - Children in Years R, 1 & 2 are offered a piece of fruit or vegetable such as a carrot, apple, banana, tomato.  This is part of the Government scheme and there is no charge.  Older children may bring a healthy mid-morning snack (fruit or vegetables) and drink to school.

Lunchtime - Children in Years R, 1 & 2 are entitled to a free meal under the Government's Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.  Please see "School Meals" section for further information.

Packed Lunch - If children are having a packed lunch, instead of a hot school meal, they should bring their lunch in a named lunchbox.  Please note that the following is NOT allowed - glass bottles/jars, fizzy drinks, sweets/chocolate, any food containing nuts or nut products.

At school, we encourage healthy eating.  Please join us in encouraging children to have a healthy balanced lunchtime meal.

Allergies - If your child has any type of food allergy, please contact the school office.  Chartwells are able to provide a special diet, tailored to your child's particular needs, but you will need to complete a special diet request form which is available from the school office.

Nuts - We have several children who have a severe allergy to nuts, particularly peanuts, so we ask that no products containing nuts, peanut butter sandwiches, biscuit bars that contain nuts etc, are brought in to school.

Water Bottles - Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school every day.  This is kept in the classroom so children can have a drink at any time.  Water bottles are available to purchase from the school office £2.00 and replacement lids are available 50p each.

Milk - Children are eligible for free school milk until their 5th birthday.  Parents/carers are asked if they would like to register their child for free milk.   Milk can also be ordered for children over 5 by registering with Cool Milk - www.coolmilk.com

Birthday Treats - Due to the fact that we have several children in school with allergies, unfortunately, we have to request that parents do not send birthday treats in to school.  However, please be assured that your child's birthday will be celebrated in school.
