Session 4 : RE - Zoom session

Today we finish our topic on Gathering – You have done really well this week.  I have invited Father Graham to join us for our session today.

Father Graham is the Parish Priest of St. Peters Church in Shoreham and Christ the King in Steyning.  He is the one that welcomes everyone into God’s house.

I have asked him to help us think about our journey through Lent – Lent is a time of preparation for Easter.  Easter is the greatest celebration in the Churches year.  During Lent we as Christians think about how we can get ourselves ready.

Some ideas for you - we can give something up or we can do something extra.  We think about doing without – making a sacrifice – testing ourselves for the days during Lent.  Or going without something so we can do a good deed for someone else.

If you love something – like sweets on a Friday – maybe you choose not to have them during Lent and put the money that would have been spent on sweets in a box and you donate it to charity at the end of Lent.

If you watch a programme every day before dinner – you may want to choose not watching it – so you could help out at home and set the table for dinner - to save someone else from doing the job.

Take some time to talk to Jesus each day - maybe as you are going to bed each night take a moment to stop and say thank you for your day – think of a nice thing that you have done and remember to say thank you for it. (you may even want to write it down – so you end up with a prayer book at the end of Lent).

Maybe each morning as you wake - before you ask for something, say 'Good morning' to Jesus. It is the first thing we do each day in school before we start our day. Maybe you could start this at home first.

Your task today:

After our session with Father Graham today: I would like you to spend some time creating a Lenten Promise.  I look forward to hearing what you are going to do.

For the rest of the day:

1. You need to make sure your information page on the Polar regions is finished. Please send them in...

You may even want to make a second one, add more facts or another picture.

Have a go at one of the experiments in the Polar Regions Resources.

Learn how to draw a Penguin or something else!

2. Phonics: I have added some Rhyming activities below for you, you could write out your own , rather than printing them out.

Well done for your great work today and this week.

Have a lovely weekend.
