Session 3 - Maths: Zoom Session

Day 4 of Building 9 and 10.

Today we are looking at the Composition of 9 and 10.  Could you have 3 plates and 10 small items today.  (Like Lego bricks / blocks / beads) you will need them infront of you for the session.

Here is the White Rose link  - just in case.

Miss Cooper uses a story called Ten Black Dots in her session today - I have added the Youtube link for you to watch the story either before or after the session:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4PGv09T4qc

In the book 'Ten black dots'  the book is a counting book that each page has a number of dots that has been created into a picture.  In our session today we are going to look at the page for Nine. We can see the 9 dots used for the 9 heads for the soldiers.

Teddy explored how to make his own picture with 9 black dots.  Teddy made a train with 9 black dots for the wheels.

Teddy wants to explore the number 9 a bit more. He does this with various items in the session. He looks at using 2 and 3 numbers to make 9.

Why don't you explore this as well after our session today as a little extra activity.

Today's task:  have a look at the picture in the book for 10. 10 black dots for 10 balloons – can you have a go at making your own ten picture – you can have a go at exploring all the different ways to make ten by making more than one picture.

Session 4 Communication language and Literacy and RE

Today we continue with our RE unit on Gathering –

Jesus said – Let the Children come to me’… this is from the scripture reading - Mark 10: 13, 14-16

The children gathered round Jesus and loved being with Jesus.  Jesus loved the children. Jesus loved everyone, he was kind and gentle.  Parents and carers brought their children to Jesus for him to bless. -  Some people thought the children should not be bothering Jesus.

People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Your task - Today I would like you to think about what you may say to Jesus if you met him.

Draw a picture of you and Jesus – you may be on your own or with your friends – what would you say to Jesus?

Some things to think about – We think that Jesus is special – but he thinks we are very special too.  He said the Kingdom of God belongs to us.  He wants us all to have our place in the world and it is our chance to shine.

Session 5 - Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Throughout this topic we are going to explore environments in our world.  We are going to start with the Polar Regions and think about animals that live in the snow. In the north and the south pole

I have added some resources below and some film clips on our arctic region.  Including a fact sheet for your parents, so they can help you.

Your task for this afternoon will take you through the week – Each afternoon I would like you to find out some information that can be put together to create a fact page. I know you have enjoyed looking at information books in class – do you have any information books at home that you could use for ideas – I have attached a few links below to inspire you.

For your fact page you will need to include:

A picture of at least one animal – more if you can.

A fact per animal

A fact about the weather.

A fact about food

A fact about animal houses.

Your task: Today I would like you to do some writing to go with your art work from yesterday.

Can you find out 2 facts to go with your picture. From the information pages that I have added into our Polar Regions Page your grown-ups could give you some of the information (if you ask them nicely) you could have a look at some of the film clips I have added to the breaktime slots or you could have a watch of the BBC programme link below.

When you are ready to write your fact – remember our skills

Think it, sat it write it.  Think of your sentence – say it out aloud, then say it again, then write it down.

Well done for your great work today.

Have a lovely evening.
