At St Peter’s, we believe that the teaching and learning of phonics is crucial in the journey to becoming a confident reader – as well as supporting pupils spell accurately too. Having a strong working knowledge of phonemes and corresponding graphemes provides children with a core upon which they can develop their skills as they move up through the school.

We use Read Write Inc resources to support our teaching of phonics and have adapted the programme to fit with the needs of our pupils.
