For a little bit of variety this week I have added some new ideas.  You may have a family favourite that you like to start your day with – (which is fine) But here is a warm-up and some plans for you. The plan will give you ideas and some props you may need to collect – they are all things from around the house.

Today we are going to measure time.

To get started let’s have a look at the cards.

Do they show the same as a matching pair or are they different?

Today we are going to measure time -here is a sand timer – it takes 10 seconds for all the sand to run to the bottom we are going to see how many jumps the kangaroo can do in 10 seconds. 

We are going to have a look at some challenges involving time today. Your first challenge in our lesson will be to find something in the house - I hope you are able to join us for some fun!

Do you have a timer at home? You may have a sandtimer?

Have a look around the house for all of the places that you can see a clock or something that tells the time. 

Today's challenge: I want you to explore how many things you can do in 1 minute. 

Think of a list of jobs you can do in 1 minute.  Some examples: how many times can you write your name.

How may cubes can you get in a tower?

When you have completed your list of jobs can you work out which ones were the quickest to do and which ones took the longest?

Session 3 - Communication Language and Literacy: Zoom

You have seen many different versions of the Great Race this week.  I am going to read you the version from Monday again in our session today.  Once you have listened to the story I would like you to have a go at making some puppets to retell the story today.

Then I would like you to have a go at retelling the story to your family (maybe as this evenings pre movie treat!)

Your task needs to include:

– the 12 animals.

• The emperor
• A river
• You may want to number the animals, so you do not forget their order.
• Writing their names may also help.
• Each one could have a holding bay to wait in before it is their turn to cross the river.
• You could draw your animals.
• You could make them from Lego.
• You could use some existing toys – if they are not the correct animal you could make some masks for your toys.
• Here is the list of animals for you:
• Rat
• Ox
• Tiger
• Rabbit
• Dragon
• Snake
• Horse
• Goat
• Monkey
• Rooster
• Dog
• Pig

Session 4 - Communication Language and Literacy

You probably need to spend a little bit more time perfecting your performance!

Session 5 - Phonics

As we are now at the end of all our set 2 sounds – it is just a matter of practise, practise, practise.

You need to build your confidence and become familiar with the sounds, so you are able to spot them as ‘special friends’ when you see them in a word.  Continue to read as many books as possible – Oxford Owl Ebooks are a good resource.  And don’t forget to come in on Thursday to collect your books on Thursday.
