This week you need to know as much information as possible about orangutans. This term we want to make a change around deforestation and palm oil use. Today we will be researching accurate facts to write an emotive story tomorrow. 

Your job today is to look at page 4 of the slides below and then rewrite the facts in your own words on page 5. Do not write anything that you don't completely understand! You  may even want to find out and add more facts from the internet.

Globally nearly a quarter of all mammal species and a third of amphibians are threatened with extinction. The demands made by human activities – such as agriculture, forestry and poaching.

Over the week, we will be researching an animal, who is close to extinction, and creating a poster to raise awareness about it.

Your task is to research the giant panda. You must find out:

  • Animal
  • Official name
  • How many are left
  • Why they are endangered
  • What we can do to help
 
  • How WWF is helping
