Year 6

WELCOME TO YEAR 6

 

There are 30 children in year 6. Miss Cappella is our teacher. Mr English works very closely with us, taking small groups for English and Maths during the week. Mrs Sherwin, our teaching assistant, makes up our fantastic team!

KEY REMINDERS

 

We have PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

We must fill in our daily reading in our homework diaries and get these signed by our parents - these must be handed in on Mondays.

Homework (English and Maths) is set on Fridays and is handed in the following Wednesday.

Spellings are given out every fortnight on a Monday and are tested on the following Friday.

We are expected to have our spelling books and homework diaries in school everyday.

 Our topic this term is...

Blood, Bones and Body Bits!

During our topic we will be learning about how the Human Body with a particular focus on the body systems and how exercise effects the body. Additionally, will be reading "Pig Heart Boy" by Malorie Blackman and basing some of our writing on this text this term.

Body Part Cakes - made by the children for homework and sold to raise funds for our end of year production!

Crime and Punishment!

During our topic we will be learning about how crime and punishment has changed from the Roman times to today. We will be learning about famous outlaws including Dick Turpin. Additionally, will be reading "Holes" by Louis Sachar and basing a lot of our writing on this text this term.

 Our topic in the Autumn Term was...

Brighton Rocks!

Last term we will be learnt all about how Brighton has changed throughout History. We visited Brighton and wrote persuasive leaflets to persuade tourists to visit the marvellous seaside town. We read "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman and based some of our writing on the text.
