Year 3

Picture 1 One of David Shepherd's paintings

In Year 3, our topics will be 'Hunters,' 'Shoreham' and 'The Romans' this year.

In the autumn, we start the year off with our Hunters topic. We'll learn about life in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, research endangered hunters and consider hunters in Africa. We use plenty of super books to help us along with our learning!

Some of our projects include researching and emailing each other with attachments, coding, looking at the art of David Shepherd (there's an example of a cheetah above), making pneumatic systems in DT, beginning to learn French and developing our glockenspiel skills in music.

A historian will join us twice this term to help us with our learning. Have a look at the gallery below where you’ll see photos of his first visit.

You can also begin to help your learning by clicking on some of the internet links below which we’ll use in class at times. Have fun!

Useful information

Homework will be set on a Monday in Year 3 and will be due in on the following Monday, unless you are given a project to do which you’ll be given slightly longer for. New spellings are given out every other Monday. Please learn them at home as we see if we’ve learned them 11 days later on a Friday in class. You should also be concentrating on your 4 and 8 times tables in Year 3. Use Percy Parker to help you learn these maybe… Hopefully you already know your 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s well.
