Please make sure children's school uniform and PE kits are named in a permanent way. It's tricky to find and return uniform

where a child's name is wearing out etc!

The Victorians

Welcome to Year 2

In our topic ‘The Victorians’ we will be finding out what it was like to go to school in Victorian times. Later on we will be learning about other aspects of Victorian children’s lives including: toys; chores and having a job!

We will be going to Victorian School and on a trip to Preston Manor, to support our learning within this topic.

We will be talking about...

What was it like to go to School in Victorian times?

What does ‘seen and not heard’ mean?

Did Victorian children have to do chores?

Why did some Victorian children have to have a job?

What jobs did Victorian children have?

What toys did Victorian children play with?

How can we create exciting writing about what we have learned?

See our half termly learning maps to find out what we are learning about!

Important information!

The children write their new spellings into their A5 red and white Read Write Inc spelling books every Monday. We have spelling quizzes on Fridays. It's super important that children practise these at home! These spelling books need to be in school every Monday.

New Literacy or Numeracy homework goes out on Fridays in the A4 orange homework book. Homework needs to be handed in on Wednesday at the latest every week. Homework books need to be handed in on time so they can be marked and new homework given.

See the 'Helpful Documents' section further down this page for more useful information and resources.
